City establishing property tax millage rate for 2008

5/30/2008

property taxesThe Fulton County Board of Tax Assessors is required to review the assessed value of taxable property each year. When the trend for recently sold properties indicates an increase in value, it is required by law to re-determine (reassess) property value.

As a result of reassessment, the property tax collected by the City under the current millage rate is expected to increase by 4.74 percent. (This does not include new construction and property improvements.) Before the City sets its final millage rate for 2008, three public hearings will be held where you can express your opinions on this tax increase:

  • June 2, 7 pm
  • June 16, 11:30 am
  • June 16, 6 pm

Action to adopt the final millage rate is scheduled to take place at the June 16 Council Meeting following the third public hearing. All meetings will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 12000 Findley Road, 3rd floor.
