One of Georgia's newest cities joins with cities young and old throughout the state to celebrate Georgia Cities Week April 20-26 and invites resident to tour City Hall and learn more about how their government works.

Sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association, the weeklong event is designed to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. This year's theme, "Living It Up Downtown," places particular emphasis on the role Georgia's cities play in the areas of arts and culture, historic preservation and economic development.

"Johns Creek residents understand, perhaps more than most citizens in the state, the difference a city can make in their lives when it comes to delivering quality, cost-effective services," Mayor Mike Bodker said. "I think most residents would agree that their quality of life has improved since we became a city on December 1, 2006. Most importantly, I believe we are delivering on our promise to create a transparent, responsive and fiscally responsible government. Georgia Cities Week gives us another opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments to date and the promise of what's to come."

City Hall tours will be held from 1 to 4 pm Monday through Thursday, April 21-24. To schedule your group, call Elizabeth Warren at 678-512-3327.
