City Manager John Kachmar announced the selection of Ed Densmore as the City's first Chief of Police, effective November 26.
Densmore, who leaves his current post as Alpharetta's Chief of Police, brings 15 years of experience in law enforcement to his new position of building and leading Johns Creek's first police force, set to launch April 2008.
"It's truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as a law enforcement professional that I didn't want to pass up," said Densmore, who began his career with the Decatur Police Department after earning a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
Densmore's selection was the result of a 5-month search involving 132 candidates from across the southeast.
"We're extremely pleased that Ed has said 'Yes.' In talking with his colleagues we learned just how well respected he is as a peace officer and manager. He has a fine reputation," said Kachmar.
