Water conservation: Do Your Part!
Mayor launches "Water Wise" education efforts

The four million+ people who live in Metro Atlanta use about 652 million gallons of water every day.
That's according to the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District. Surprisingly, the majority of that water is consumed by single and multiple family residents – NOT businesses.
Nearly 100 percent of the District's water resource comes from surface water (rivers, streams and lakes). Groundwater is not a significant supply source due to the bedrock over most of the District. (Think about the granite in Stone Mountain.) The district does not import water from outside its boundaries.
The City of Johns Creek is joining with other cities in the District to encourage public awareness and education on effective water conservation. To get you started, here are 100 Tips for "Water Wise" usage.
In the next few weeks, Mayor Bodker will launch a "Water Wise" public education initiative. It will all be done electronically (why waste paper?), so check back here for more "Water Wise" tips and subscribe to our e-newsletters and e-news flashes to receive some unique and smart ideas on saving water for our future!
