Time to renew alcohol licenses, business tax certificates

Both expire at year's end; submit renewal applications soon to avoid penalties
10/26/2007

City of Johns Creek alcohol licenses and business tax certificates expire December 31 and the renewal process is under way for both. Here are the specifics:

Alcohol Licenses

  • Completed renewal applications and payments are due on or before November 15 to avoid penalty and interest.
  • Licenses are non-transferable; a change of ownership may result in the need to complete an application for a new license, including all investigative and advertising fees.
  • Failure to complete the application in full and submit with the required supporting documents and license fees will delay processing. Incomplete applications will be returned for completion.
  • Renewal applications and payments received between November 16 and December 15 are subject to a 10% late filing fee. Businesses failing to renew prior to December 15 must reapply as a new business and pay all applicable fees.
  • Questions? Contact Kevin Ritter or John Sanders, 678-512-3200.

Business Tax Certificates

  • Renewal applications must be submitted with full payment of all fees and taxes due no later than March 31, 2008 to avoid penalty and interest.
  • Renewal fees and taxes received after March 31, 2008 are subject to a 10% penalty and interest at a rate of 1.5% per month.
  • Renewal applications will be mailed beginning December 1 and a second renewal notice will be mailed mid-February 2008. For those businesses that do not receive a renewal notice, it is the responsibility of the business to pay their business tax prior to the deadline.
  • Upon receipt of the completed renewal application with the required fees and taxes, the City will issue a business tax certificate valid until December 31, 2008.
