The City has purchased high-tech speed limit signs to slow traffic in heavily traveled elementary school zones that previously had no flashing signs.

"We wanted to start this new school year making traffic areas around our elementary schools as safe as possible," said Deputy City Manager Buzz Boehm.

The solar-powered LED school blinker signs have been installed on both approaches to Shakerag, Abbotts Hill, Ocee, State Bridge and Findley Oaks elementary schools.

"The LED's can be seen up to 2 miles away in daylight, night or fog and are more cost effective than the standard system commonly used in school zones," said Boehm.
