We love a parade!

City seeks participants for first-ever Founders Day event
10/17/2007

The City of Johns Creek invites the community to participate in its first Founders Day Parade taking place Saturday, Dec. 1, part of a day-long, holiday flavored celebration of the first anniversary of the city's incorporation.

The parade, sponsored by the Johns Creek Area Council of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, begins at 10 am. It takes place on State Bridge Road from West Morton Road to Kimball Bridge Road, approximately 1.3 miles. Participation is open to organizations, businesses and individuals. Marching bands from Chattahoochee and Northview high schools have already signed on to take part, along with Marines, color guards, Scouts, Hummers, Shriners, clowns and a variety of floats.

The parade application, route map and flier are available on the Johns Creek Web site at www.JohnsCreekGA.gov. Deadline for submittal is Friday, Nov. 16. Applicants will receive confirmation upon approval and acceptance of their entry application. A separate information package containing a more detailed parade information map, line-up locations, schedule, and drop-off and parking plans will be sent approximately one week prior to the event.

The parade is just the start of the day's activities. A family-oriented event, highlighted by a visit from Santa, is planned for 1-3 pm at Newtown Park, and the celebration concludes at City Hall with a tree-lighting ceremony that gets under way starting at 4 pm.
