Spring fun at Newtown

Sponsored by the Newtown Recreation Athletic Association (NRAA), the 5th annual Newtown Easter Egg Hunt attracted about 300 people, including parents, grandparents and, of course, the Easter Bunny.

"It's a good time for the community to come together outside of the realm of sports and celebrate the spring season," said Newtown Recreation Director Brandon Allen."Everyone had fun."

Children from ages 1 through 10 "hunted" for more than 5,000 plastic candy-filled eggs "hidden" on the main soccer field of the Park by NRAA staff. Despite a very cold and windy morning, the event was deemed a success, based on the smiling faces of the children who quickly gathered up the eggs, some of which contained winning tickets for Easter basket prizes.

The Sportography Photo Company provided complimentary photos of the Easter Bunny, who posed with each child.
