City Hires Seasoned Professional for City Manager
Former County Manager from Beaufort, SC, to take the Helm

Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker today announced John Kachmar, a former County Manager from Beaufort County, SC, has been selected as City Manager.
The announcement ends a national search that began last summer following the vote for incorporation of northeast Fulton County. Bodker's position as an unopposed candidate for Mayor allowed him to begin the selection process prior to the City's formal start-up on Dec. 1.
"I appreciate the fact that this has been a challenging search, but I can say with all certainty that the result is worth the wait," said Bodker. "John Kachmar brings with him the highest skill level and the professional experience the citizens of Johns Creek deserve."
Kachmar, who has been in government since 1981, has 17 years experience as a County Administrator. He served in that capacity in Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. Most recently he has been working as a consultant performing infrastructure financings for partnerships between the public and private sectors. The challenge of starting a city of over 62,000 residents from the ground up lured him back into government work.
"I am looking forward to working for the City of Johns Creek and its citizens," said Kachmar. "I believe that an amazing opportunity exists to take a city with very little history and help create a working organization that will be recognized as a model of efficient, service oriented, user-friendly government."
Bodker and City Council will work with Kachmar to complete his leadership team and deliver the responsive, customer-service oriented government that was central to the campaign for cityhood.
"John's vision for how a city should run is very much in line with what the citizen's of our City have asked for and expect," said Bodker. "Our jobs will not be complete until Johns Creek breaks the mold for fiscally responsible, effective government and I am looking forward to our team working together to make that a lasting reality."
