Survey of Johns Creek road conditions

12/22/2006

An Integrated Management Services (IMS) truck
traveled the 331 miles of streets and roads in Johns
Creek to survey their condition.

You may have noticed a truck mounted with special cameras on the front and roof roaming around the roads of Johns Creek recently. Inside were technicians from Integrated Management Systems (IMS) who were surveying the conditions of the roads in Johns Creek.

For the last two and a half weeks they've driven every street – a total of 331 miles – to photograph cracked pavements, sidewalks, potholes, gutters and curbs. The pictures were instantly fed into a computer system, which simultaneously rated the various conditions. All that information will be analyzed over the next month and a full report issued to Mayor and Council.

Data gathered by the cameras mounted on the IMS
truck was automatically entered into a computer for
further analysis by IMS. A full report of the conditions of
Johns Creek's roads will be produced.

"This was the first time this kind of survey has been done on these roads," said Johns Creek Program Director Don Howell.

Responsibility for maintenance of the roads transferred from Fulton County to Johns Creek, Dec. 1, 2006. The work was done at the direction of CH2M Hill, the private consulting firm providing operating services for Johns Creek.
