JOHNS CREEK, Georgia—April 23, 2008—With the imminent launch of the city’s own police department at 12 am Sunday, April 27, Johns Creek City Council members and Mayor Mike Bodker recently took time to extend their thanks to the Fulton County Police Department.

“For 33 years, the men and women of the Fulton County Police Department have faithfully protected the lives and property of the people who live and work in what is now the City of Johns Creek,” Bodker said. “They have provided exemplary service and established a level of quality that sets the standard for law enforcement in this community. We owe them a great debt of gratitude.”

Some of those officers will continue serving Johns Creek citizens. There are 23 members of the Fulton force who are making the transition as part of the city’s first 56 sworn officers.

“Their presence makes our department that much stronger for the experience they bring,” the mayor said. “They already are a part of the community.”

Johns Creek’s elected officials also thanked Fulton Chief Cassandra Jones and Assistant Chief Gary Stiles for helping facilitate a smooth transition.

“Their leadership established a spirit of cooperation and demonstrates their commitment to the law enforcement profession,” Bodker said. “On behalf of my Council colleagues and all Johns Creek residents, I want to express our appreciation and extend best wishes to them and all the members of the Fulton Police Department.”
