Johns Creek Police Command Staff on board

JOHNS CREEK, Georgia—January 30, 2008—Police Chief Ed Densmore today announced the remaining members of his Command Staff, prior to the April '08 launch of the city's Police Department.

Capt. Brian Weaver joins the city after serving 26 years with Fulton County Police, 11 of those directly in the Johns Creek community. Weaver will head the city's Criminal Investigation Division.

Weaver began his law enforcement career in 1982 as a Police Officer with Fulton County, rising through the ranks to Corporal, Detective, Lieutenant and ultimately Captain in 2001. As Captain he served as a Commander in the Major Case Division, SWAT, Special Operations, Narcotics and Northside evening watch. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Georgia.

Lt. Roland Castro brings 11 years of experience to the Patrol Division, most recently as a Sergeant with the Alpharetta Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit. He commanded that department's 18-man SWAT team for three years and was active in Alpharetta's PACT (Police and Citizens Working Together) program.

Castro spent four years with the Atlanta office of the US Drug Enforcement Agency, conducting complex conspiracy investigations and executing high-risk warrants on more than 300 clandestine drug laboratories around the state. He holds a BS in Public & Social Services from Kennesaw State University and is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from Columbus State University.

Lt. Nick Curry brings nine years of law enforcement experience to the Patrol Division. He served Alpharetta Police most recently as a Sergeant, member of the Alpharetta SWAT team and supervisor of the department's canine unit. Curry holds a BS in Criminal Justice from North Georgia College and is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from Columbus State University.

Lt. Trey Farran joins the city's Patrol Division from Fulton County Police, where he served for 16 years, much of that in the Johns Creek community. A native of Alpharetta, Farran began his career in patrol with Fulton County and was promoted through the ranks to Lieutenant.

Farran served several years on assignment with the US Marshal Service's Fugitive Task Force, based in their Atlanta office. He holds a BS in Criminal Science from North Georgia College.
