Don't keep your neighborhood in the dark
City seeks subdivision residents' help in tallying malfunctioning streetlights

JOHNS CREEK, Georgia—July 20, 2007—Does it seem a little darker in your subdivision these nights? It may be because some of the streetlights in your neighborhood are out. If so, the Johns Creek Public Works Department wants to know about them so they can be fixed quickly – and you can help.

The department recently began a streetlight outage inventory. City staffers are currently working to tally the outages, but with more than 4,500 streetlights to inspect, it is an extensive process. To help speed things up, the city is asking residents in the 200-plus subdivisions within Johns Creek to help out by identifying issues and outages in their neighborhoods.

Residents can print this Streetlight Outage form from the city's website to use in tracking malfunctioning lights.

A couple of tips:

• Make sure it is totally dark prior to beginning your inventory so that all lights have an opportunity to turn on.
• Provide as much location information as possible on the form, such as an intersection, at the end of a cul-de-sac or the nearest address location.

To minimize duplicate entries, residents are asked to forward their completed forms to their subdivision representative, who can then email or fax (678-512-3270) them to Utility Coordinator Kevin Dye.
