STOP: Teen Driver Intervention Program
STOP decal

Summer is the worse time for teen car accidents because school is out, and more new drivers are on the road. Last summer, the Johns Creek Police and Municipal Court started STOP in response to so many teen traffic violators in Johns Creek.

Since then, more than 700 young drivers have participated in the program - most because they were ordered to when they got a traffic violation - but many because they wanted to know more about safe driving.

If you have a newly permitted or licensed driver in your household, we encourage you to enroll them in STOP.

The next classes are July 21, August 18 and Sept. 22. You only need to attend one class (about one ½ hours). It's a free community service for Johns Creek teens and their parents. Read more.

Latest phone scam targets your bank account
phone

The next time you answer your phone and all you hear is dead air or a recorded message or ad, it could be a sign that you're being victimized by the latest scam involving "telephone denial-of-service" attacks.

It's a sophisticated kind of fraud that the FBI says begins with criminals accessing personal information on social networking sites and ends with them tying up your phone line (land or cell) to divert your attention while they raid your bank, online trading or money management account. JC Police Chief attends security program in Israel
GILEE team in Israel

Johns Creek Police Chief Ed Densmore participated in the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange in Israel last month, joining a select group of U.S. law enforcement officials to learn security tactics from their Israeli counterparts.

Established in 1992, prior to the Atlanta Olympics, GILEE initially focused on anti-terrorism and improving Georgia's preparedness for terrorist attacks. Since 9/11, it has concentrated on enhancing homeland security efforts through international cooperation. Read more.
