Founders Week of fun, capped with parade

Wienermobile

Celebrate the founding of Johns Creek four years ago. Festivities start Nov. 29 with a tree and dreidel lighting, and end Dec. 4 with a parade and Santa Jam, a community party at Johns Creek High School.

The parade features the Wienermobile, a NASCAR racer, the Chicago Fire Pipes and Drums Band and, of course, Santa. The deadline to register for the parade is Nov. 12. Check out the schedule of events.

The two top vote-getters in the Nov. 2 special election for Johns Creek City Council Post 5, Kelly Stewart and Tim Jennette, are headed for a runoff on Nov. 30. Read more.

State Bridge lane closed 11/8-11; expect delays!

Repairs on State Bridge Road at Chattahoochee River bridge (Pleasant Hill Road on the Gwinnett County side) require closing one west bound lane beginning 11/8 through approximately 11/11.

Expect traffic delays, especially during rush hour. See map.

Johns Creek Police receive state certification

Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police

Following its national accreditation in July, the JCPD received its state certification from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, giving the two-year-old agency a distinction rarely seen by U.S. law enforcement professionals. Read more.

JC Fire named non-profit's 'Rookie of the Year'

The Johns Creek Fire Department has been named Muscular Dystrophy Association's "2009 Rookie of the Year," having raised $14,009 for the non-profit last year. Read more.

To help promote Johns Creek to the film industry, the City is working with the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Department of Economic Development, probably the first points of contact by movie-makers. Read more.

City offices closed Veterans Day, Thanksgiving

City offices will be closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day and Nov. 25-26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Offices will re-open at 8:30 a.m. the following business day.

Daylight savings time ends Nov. 7 at 2 a.m.

Don't forget to set your clocks one hour back on Nov. 7 for Daylight Savings Time. You get to sleep in an hour!
