Community garden to be built in Newtown Park

Johns Creek gardeners, grab your trowels and seeds. A community garden with 30 raised beds is being planned for Newtown Park this spring, with a tentative planting time in early May. Read more.

Newtown School to become senior center

Johns Creek should have a senior center in early 2011, utilizing $565,000 of federal Community Development Block Grant money to renovate the historic Newtown School. Construction should start by early summer. Read more.

Council weighing solid waste changes

Johns Creek is hiring a solid waste coordinator to oversee regulation of waste haulers, compliance with state mandates, and implementation of a citywide recycling plan. Read more.

Council sets transportation priorities

A $4.9 million plan will improve traffic flow, roads and walkways. This includes a system to remotely manipulate traffic signals and fill in 1.7 miles of gaps in the Johns Creek Greenway. Read more.

Public Info Session 4/26 on JCPD accreditation

As part of its CALEA accreditation process, the JCPD will hold a Public Information Session on Monday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Courtroom. You can offer comments by phone at 678-474-1608 from 9-11 a.m. that morning. Read more.

Business licenses past due on April 1

As of April 1, all Johns Creek business license applications are past due and subject to penalties. Late-filers face a penalty of 10 percent of the tax due plus 1.5 percent interest per month. Read more.
