Citizens Police Academy to launch March 16

Johns Creek residents can get an up-close look at their police department at the new Citizens Police Academy that starts March 16. The nine-week long Academy is open to residents age 21 and older. Read more.

Mayor to address State of City March 3

JC spring egg hunt March 28 at Newtown Park

On March 28, Johns Creek youngsters can comb Newtown Park for hidden eggs, have their face painted, play in a moonwalk and enjoy other activities. They also can have their photograph taken with the Easter Bunny. Read more | flyer.

GDOT expects to finish McGinnis Ferry by 2011

State road officials say widening of McGinnis Ferry Road, originally set for July 31, now should be done by year end. The delay is attributed to frequent, heavy rains and unexpected utility-related problems. Read more.

Time to renew business tax certificates

Businesses in the City have until March 31, 2010 to renew their business tax certificates by submitting a business tax return with full payment of all fees and taxes due. Read more.

April 1 deadline to file Homestead Exemptions

Only homeowners who have not applied previously or who qualify for new exemptions need to fill out the homestead exemption paperwork. File with Fulton County by Apr. 1. Read more.

First Johns Creek Fire Annual Awards Banquet

The Johns Creek Fire Department recognized 16 firefighters for their quick thinking and heroism in 2009 at the first Johns Creek Fire Annual Awards Banquet, held Feb. 6, at the Standard Club. Read more.

Police advance in CALEA accreditation process

The JCPD advances to the next stage of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies with an April on-site inspection. The department must comply with 418 law enforcement standards for professionalism. Read more.

JCFD awards 'Firefighter of the Quarter'

Greg Rock, a veteran firefighter with experience in Baghdad and an emergency medical technician, was selected as Johns Creek's "Firefighter of the Quarter" for the fourth quarter of 2009. Read more.

Boy Scouts of America honored Feb. 8

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, the Johns Creek City Council recognized the youth program with a privileged resolution Feb. 8, at City Hall. Read more.

2010 U.S. Census gears up

The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way: census workers are knocking on doors to verify address information and official census forms are scheduled to be mailed in March 2010. Read more.
