The Atlanta Regional Commission hopes to help unsnarl congested roadways through development of a North Fulton Transportation Plan, and will be gathering Johns Creek input Jan. 14. Read more.

Bring one for the chipper Jan. 9 at Home Depot

Drop off your Christmas tree for recycling and get a free seedling in return (while supplies last). Free mulch is also available from Davey Tree Co. by filling out this form. Read more.

Lady Gladiators host recycling event Jan. 23

The Johns Creek High School Lady Gladiators softball team is holding a fundraising benefit electronics recycling and document shredding event on Jan. 23 at the school from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Read more.

Expanded parking for Ocee Park

The city recently contracted with Reid & Reid Contractors to expand and reconfigure the parking lot at Ocee Park, a project that will provide an additional 75 parking spaces.

Work began the week of Dec. 14 and is anticipated to be completed March 1 in time for the spring sports season. This project is funded through the 2010 Capital Improvement Budget.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently recognized the City of Johns Creek's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Read more.

The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way: census workers are knocking on doors to verify address information and official census forms are scheduled to be mailed in March 2010. Read more.

City offices close Jan. 18

City offices will close Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, reopening at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
