"Super CPR Saturday" June 6
If you and your family plan on spending time at the pool or lake this summer, head first to Johns Creek's FREE "Super CPR Saturday," June 6 at Perimeter Church, to learn some basic lifesaving skills.

CDBG draft available for public review
The draft of the City of Johns Creeks Community Development Block Grant 2009-2013 Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan is now available for public review.
A public hearing is scheduled for the June 8 Council meeting starting at 7 pm. In addition, a 30-day public comment period will be observed from June 22 to July 24. Input may be submitted via email to CDBG@JohnsCreekGA.gov.
Final adoption of the plan is scheduled for July 27. Read more.

Survey: parks & recreation perceptions, desires
Approximately 2,500 randomly selected Johns Creek residents soon will receive a four-page mail survey asking for their opinions about the City's park facilities and recreation programs. It's the latest part of the Recreation and Parks Division's first comprehensive master plan process. Read more.

Plan also looks at cultural and fine arts
That same Recreation and Parks master plan will also include a Fine and Cultural Arts component, thanks to a grant from the Fulton County Art Council.
Residents can share their thoughts and desires at a pair of public input sessions June 11 at noon and 7 pm, or by sending an email to ParkMasterPlan@JohnsCreekGA.gov. Read more.

Revenue offers ways to do business online
The Revenue Division now offers online access to existing alcohol license, pouring permit, business certificate and excise tax accounts to pay outstanding balances. Individuals or businesses may also update their mailing address, phone number, owner address information and officers through this service.
Over the next several weeks these services will expand to include renewal payments for pouring permits, excise taxes and business tax certificates.

Raise the flags over Johns Creek thru July 4th
The City again encourages citizens to fly an American flag from Flag Day, June 14, through the Fourth of July.
"Flags Over Johns Creek" is designed to encourage patriotism, inspire citizens to think about the meaning of the American flag, and serve as a symbol of support for troops abroad.

Basketball celebs benefit Special Olympics
NBA Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J." Erving and former Phoenix Suns/Georgia Bulldog forward Joe Ward lent their celebrity to the inaugural Johns Creek Police Golf Tournament, helping the JCPD raise $26,000 from the tournament to benefit Special Olympics Georgia. Read more.

Georgia Burn Ban in effect
A state-mandated Burn Ban on all outdoor burning is in effect from May 1 through September 30 in many parts of Georgia, including Johns Creek. Read more.

Watering restrictions continue
With recent heavy rains putting the region ahead of the annual rainfall curve, many people assume that the drought plaguing Metro Atlanta is over and they can resume outdoor watering activities.
In fact, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division continues to maintain Level Four restrictions on outdoor water use. Read more.
