Special Olympian serves as PD's ambassador

Newest recruits are 'doggone' good officers
The Police Department's two newest recruits go by their first names only: Nico and Dano. The duo are highly trained police dogs and along with their handlers, Cpl. James Zebley and Officer George Hodge, make up the Department's new K-9 unit. Read more.

700 more homes and businesses can 'choose to use' Johns Creek: Effective April 1 the USPS recognizes Johns Creek, GA as a valid mailing address within the 30024 ZIP Code.

Workers hit the trail: Greenway construction
Construction of Segment 1 of the Johns Creek Greenway - a continuous network of trails throughout the City - has begun, following a groundbreaking ceremony March 23.
Segment 1 will connect existing walkways built by local developers and entities, such as Perimeter Church, as part of a public/private approach to overall development of the Greenway. Read more.

Free CPR / AED class can be a real lifesaver
The Johns Creek Fire Department offers a FREE CPR / AED class for residents and businesses, part of the City's designation as Georgia's first "Heart Ready City." The class runs approximately three hours and is offered to groups of at least 10.

Lacrosse tourney in City for 5th straight year
The SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference is returning April 24-26. Quarterfinal action starts Friday evening at both Northview and Chattahoochee high schools. A youth tournament, clinics and skills competitions are planned for Saturday with semifinal games in both divisions.
Sunday will feature championship games in both divisions and two winners will advance to the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association national tournament in Denver in May. Read more.

Test baseball skills at Ocee Park competition
The Aquafina Major League Baseball "Pitch, Hit, and Run," an official baseball skills local competition, returns to Ocee Park on April 18, 10 am-noon. Registration is free and starts at 9:30 am.

Get a passing grade on City in 'Johns Creek 101'
GNFCC's popular "Johns Creek 101" returns April 28. The 4-class series provides a quick and fun way to meet the people who run the City, find out what they do and learn exactly how the City came to be.
Classes run from 9:30 am to noon on consecutive Tuesdays: April 28, May 5, May 12 and May 19. Class size is limited to 45 people. The last session filled up fast so register soon at www.gnfcc.com/events.

Johns Creek joins "Relay For Life" April 17-18
As the American Cancer Society celebrates its 25th anniversary of "Relay for Life," the City joins the effort hosting its first edition of the fund-raiser April 17-18.
The event takes place from 7 pm to 7 am at Taylor Road Middle School, capping a four-month local fund-raising effort to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment. See how you can get involved.
