Founders Day Parade means rerouting traffic
Various portions of State Bridge Road from Medlock Crossing Parkway to Kimball Bridge Road will be closed between 8 am and noon for the City of Johns Creek Founders Day Parade Dec. 6. Read more.
Following the parade, be sure to head down to Newtown Park (3150 Old Alabama Road) to meet Jolly Old St. Nick himself. Santa will be available for photos (bring your camera) and there will be live entertainment and other activities for children, including moon walk, face painting, etc. as well as food available for purchase. |
Breakfast with Santa Dec. 13 at Autrey Mill
Children are invited to join the Recreation and Parks Division for "Breakfast with Santa" on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve.
Enjoy music, gingerbread cookie decorating, holiday crafts, and have the opportunity to write a letter and hand-deliver it to Santa. Two seatings are available - 8:30 to 9:30 am and 10-11 am.
Registration is required and is now under way through Dec. 5. Cost is $15 per child and space is limited. Click here for registration form and additional info. |
Toys for Tot drive continues through Dec. 15
Residents can continue to drop off new, unwrapped toys at Johns Creek City Hall to contribute to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's annual "Toys for Tots" campaign through Dec. 15.
Toys should be placed in the box located in the fourth floor lobby. While you're there, take a moment to sign the four holiday cards that will be sent to our men and women serving in the military. City Hall, located at 12000 Findley Road, is open daily from 8:30 am to 5 pm. |
It's official - Comp Plan earns approval
The Mayor and City Council unanimously approved the City's first-ever Comprehensive Plan November 10, ending a process that began in September 2007. The plan - which includes a future land-use policy, transportation master plan and greenspace plan - defines the City's shared vision for how land will be used.
The process involved more than 20 meetings including two open houses, public hearings, a community assessment and extensive citizen input leading to development of the actual plan with input from an 11-member Citizens Advisory Committee along with transportation and green plan subcommittees under the guidance of several consultants and staff. |
Time to renew business tax certificates
Businesses in the City of Johns Creek have until March 31, 2009 to renew their tax certificate by submitting a Business Tax Certificate Renewal application with full payment of all fees and taxes due. The City will begin mailing renewal applications the last week in December and a second notice will be mailed in mid-February.
Failure to receive a renewal application does not relieve a business of its responsibility to pay the tax by the deadline. Late payments are subject to a 10 percent penalty and interest of 1.5 percent a month. Questions? Contact the Revenue Division, 678-512-3200. |
We are the (softball) champions
Team Caterpillar captured the first-ever City of Johns Creek Adult Co-Ed Softball League Championship with a 23-19 win over the Beer Nuts November 4.
The eight-game regular season started September 9. Beer Nuts took first place with a 7-1 record, earning them a first-round bye in the single-elimination tournament to determine the league champion. The Recreation and Park Division thanks all the teams that participated in the first season. |
