JC students in national spotlight

Celebrate! As another school year ends, students from Johns Creek public schools once again receive national recognition for their outstanding academic and creative talents.

Of the 19 Fulton County seniors recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for the 2006/2007 school year, eight of them hail from Johns Creek high schools:

  • National Merit Scholars:  Vasanth Sathiyakumar and Alice Song from Chattahoochee High
  • Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarships:  Daniel Debruler and Nikhar Kinger from Chattahoochee High; Rohit Ganju, Kristen Janiszewski and Ivana Miao from Northview High
  • National Achievement Scholarship:  Camille Walton from Northview High

Kelley Young, an eighth grader at River Trail Middle School, is one of six national finalists in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Reflections Program, winning first place in the dance category for her interpretive choreography. Millions of students compete in the 30-year old visual and performing arts competition each year.

Congratulations to all of these exceptional young people of Johns Creek!

Night at the Museum Northside Hospital Forsyth Movies in the Park - June 9
"Night at the Museum" - FREE event

A fun night for families and people of all ages — sponsored by Northside Hospital Forsyth — is planned for Saturday, June 9, at 6pm in Newtown Park:  The first Johns Creek "Movies in the Park."

"Night at the Museum," starring Ben Stiller, will be shown on a giant screen once it gets dark, but lots of other fun activities will start early, so bring your A movie goer...blankets, lawn chairs and picnic food (sorry, no alcohol). Food vendors will be in the Park, too, if you don't feel like cooking.

There is no charge for the event, except for any food vendor purchase.

For future planning, "Movies in the Park" returns to Newtown Park July 13 and August 11 with different family films.
