Welcome to the first issue of MY NEWS JOHNS CREEK, our official monthly newsletter. It's our hope that you find this a useful tool for keeping up with your city government and events around town. We welcome your advice, as always.
This first edition is released as we complete our first 90 days as a City. In these three months your Council has worked hard, passing over 100 ordinances and resolutions. These actions have begun to establish our City's foundation. It's our pleasure to receive citizen comments at our meetings and we're doing our best to respond to you.
Over the course of this year we will establish Advisory Committees and Boards for which we need involved, informed citizens. Please consider working with us to build our city.
Thank you for reading our first edition of MY NEWS JOHNS CREEK. I invite you to visit our Web site to keep track of city legislation and join our mailing list to stay up on events.
Respectfully,
Mike Bodker

Seasoned administrator joins City
John Kachmar – a consultant and former county administrator – became Johns Creek's City Manager February 12. The challenge of starting a city from the ground up lured Kachmar to Johns Creek.
"I believe that an amazing opportunity exists to take a city with very little history and help create a working organization that will be recognized as a model of efficient, service oriented, user-friendly government," said Kachmar, a native of Lehigh, Pennsylvania.
"John's vision for how a city should run is very much in line with what the citizen's of our City have asked for and expect," said Mayor Mike Bodker. (Read more...)
Homestead Exemptions — File by March 1
If you are over the age of 65 and you're a homeowner in Johns Creek you should apply to the Fulton County Tax Assessors Office by March 1 for the City of Johns Creek's $15,000 Senior Basic Homestead Exemption that has NO income requirements.
This is one of the City homestead exemptions offered to citizens who own and occupy their home as a primary residence as of Jan. 1, 2007.
Arrangements have been made with the Fulton County Tax Assessors Office so residents do not have to reapply for the City's exemptions – other than the Senior Basic Exemption – if they've applied for the corresponding Fulton County exemptions.
Contact the Fulton County Tax Assessor's Office at 404-224-0102 for more information, or call the City's Operations Office at 678-512-3200.
