Wildlife

Before rapid development came to the suburbs north of Atlanta in the 1980s, many animals – primarily deer, coyotes, foxes, and small black bears – roamed freely. Over the years, the majority of this wildlife migrated to the North Georgia Mountains, but some has remained behind in heavily wooded subdivisions and areas like the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

Wildlife – primarily deer, coyotes, foxes and small black bears – are attracted by the abundant sources of food and shelter like heavily wooded subdivisions and the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

If you need assistance in removing nuisance wildlife from your property, please contact one of the wildlife trapping companies approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

If you have an emergency with any wildlife, i.e., a fox or coyote you suspect might have rabies, please call 9-1-1 and a Johns Creek Police Officer will respond as soon as possible. He/she will then assist you in contacting one of the wildlife trapping companies.
