Shortly after its Dec. 1, 2006 incorporation, Johns Creek adopted Interim Comprehensive Plan 2025 and Land-Use map based on Fulton County's 2025 Comprehensive Plan. In accordance with the City of Johns Creek Charter, the interim 2025 plan served as a guide for managed development until the City developed its own Comprehensive Plan.
Approved in November 2008, the City's Comprehensive Plan 2030 includes a transportation master plan and greenspace plan.
Planning & Zoning staff implement Comprehensive Plan 2030 through daily application of the City Code and Zoning Ordinance, which involves the processing of a variety of land use applications ranging from subdivisions to variances.
Planning & Zoning staff also process rezoning, special use permits and variance requests. These requests follow the public hearing process and procedures established by the City's Mayor and City Council pursuant to Article 28 of the City of Johns Creek Zoning Ordinance.
Staff members ensure applications are complete upon submittal and develop the staff report and recommendation(s) which are then presented to the Planning Commission.
