Capital Improvement Projects

A Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is a multi-year plan that assesses capital facility needs in a city against its overall goals and objectives.

The CIP contains projects budgeted in the current fiscal year, as well as projects in subsequent years for which funding may not have been obtained or authorized.

The FY 2009 CIP Budget includes Public Works/Transportation and Recreation & Parks projects.

Transportation

The Transportation Division of Public Works is responsible for the development and update of the City's CIP transportation system projects. Some of the essential duties and services that are performed include the following:

  • Coordinate the program and its projects with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and Fulton County.

  • Oversee the engineering and design to ensure that goals and objectives are met.

  • Incorporate environmental concerns such as historic resources, endangered species and habitats, and hydrology.

The Transportation CIP map shows the location of the currently planned capital improvement transportation projects in the City of Johns Creek.

Recreation & Parks

The Recreation & Parks Department is responsible for the development and implementation of the City's capital improvement Recreation & Parks projects, which include the creation of a Comprehensive Parks Master Plan, land acquisition and park improvements.
