Established in 1981 as a second business campus for Technology Park/Atlanta (est. 1963), Technology Park/Johns Creek, like TPA, was envisioned and created by a group of Georgia Institute of Technology graduates who wanted to make Atlanta a center for high tech jobs, similar to Silicon Valley in California and Research Triangle in North Carolina.

"They wanted a planned community where working, living and playing could all take place in the same woodsy, pleasant environment, where workers would be happy."

Today the businesses of Technology Park/Johns Creek employ more than 10,000 employees spread over 5.8 million square feet of developed office and industrial space. In addition, as its founders envisioned, the mixed-used, master-planned community is also home to a hospital, churches, single family homes, seniors housing, apartments, restaurants and retail businesses.
