Council member Steve BroadbentSteve Broadbent was elected to Johns Creek City Council Post 6 in a special runoff election on July 22, 2014. He is a small business owner, having served previously as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and with the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring as a commander.

He is the Managing Director of Fulcrum Partner's Atlanta office, responsible for analyzing and assisting in the design, funding, and security of nonqualified benefit programs for publicly traded and large, privately held corporations.

Previously, he worked at AT&T for twelve years in a variety of sales, marketing, and operations positions, including Sales Vice President in Los Angeles.

Broadbent was appointed by President George H.W. Bush to serve as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of the Treasury where he worked throughout the Bush Administration. While serving President Bush, Mr. Broadbent led White House Advance Teams on a number of diplomatic missions throughout Europe and the Mideast.

Upon completion of his service at the Treasury Department, Broadbent received the Meritorious Service Award from the Secretary of the Treasury, and the Commissioner's Award, the highest award presented by the Commissioner of the IRS.

He began his career as an officer in the United States Navy where he served assignments at sea, in the Middle East, and in Washington, D.C. He served 22 years in both active duty and in the Naval Reserves.

His public service includes serving on the Development Authority of Fulton County since 2013, the Johns Creek Foundation's director since 2012, and a board member and treasurer of the St. Ives Country Club for several years since 2003. He also serves as a Director for the Washington, D.C.-based Association of Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU) where he chairs AALU's government affairs activities.

Broadbent is a member of both the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce and the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce. His work with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce includes serving on its board of advisors from 1999-2008 and its transportation committee from 2005-2008.

Awarded a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia, he went on to earn an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters in Public Policy from George Washington University.

Broadbent, his wife, Mary, and their two daughters are members of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
