Kelly StewartKelly Stewart took the oath of office for the Johns Creek City Council Post 5 seat on Dec. 13, 2010.

Stewart has served at the local, state and federal levels of government. At the federal level, Stewart worked on Capitol Hill at the U.S. House of Representatives. At the state level, she was with the University System of Georgia, and at the local level, she served as a county administrator.

Stewart's community activities include working with the United Way and the Salvation Army. She received a governor's citation for her volunteer work with Junior Achievement. Stewart is a Sunday school assistant at First Baptist Church Atlanta and sings in the choir.

Stewart also serves as president of the Buckhead Republican Women, and she and her husband, Tom, are members of the Chairman's Council of the Fulton County Republican Party. She is active in several pro-Israel organizations.

Stewart is vice president of Human Resources for the Lucas Group, a national executive search firm headquartered in Atlanta. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management.

A Georgia native, Stewart received her master's degree in City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology with specializations in Economic and Land Development. She holds a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Brenau University, and earned an associate's degree in Psychology from Gainesville College. She is a recorded pianist, singer and songwriter.
