Community Development Block Grant
2010 Action Year Plan

The Community Development Block Grant Program provides federal funding to address unique community needs. Authorized under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, the program provides annual grants on a formula basis to local governments and states. The City of Johns Creek is eligible for grant funds under the Entitlement Community Program, one of several CDBG programs the Department of Housing and Urban Development offers. The purpose of these grants is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and opportunities to expand economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate income persons.

In accordance with the Consolidated Plan adopted by the Johns Creek City Council on July 29, 2009, the city intends to provide for ADA components in the library and continue improvements to the Newtown School House on Old Alabama Road for provision of a Senior Center for the 2010 Action Year. The estimated award for 2010 is $190,182.

We would like to encourage citizen input in the formulation of the 2010 CDBG Action Plan. Through this process other community needs may be established. The initial step is a 15-day comment period commencing May 6, 2010 and ending May 22, 2010. Public input is welcome and should be directed to .
