Monte Vavra
Director

Vavra joined Johns Creek in 2007, bringing 30 years of experience in municipal government finance.

Most recently, he served as Finance Director for Marietta, Georgia, managing five varied operating divisions: Accounting, Budgeting, Business License, Property Tax, and Purchasing. Prior to Marietta, Vavra served as Finance Officer for Estes Park, Colorado for 16 years and an accountant for Sioux Falls, South Dakota for eight years.

A Certified Government Finance Officer, Vavra served as Vice President of the Colorado Government Finance Officers Association and currently serves on the Georgia Governmental Finance Officers Association Board.

Dinetta Smith
Accounting Manager

Smith brings more than 13 years of accounting experience to her position, including asset capacity planning, financial analysis/cost analysis, budget forecasting, capital expenditures and acquisition allocation.

Prior to joining Johns Creek in November 2006, Smith served as Accounting Manager for the Housing Authority of Dekalb County, Georgia, Senior Accountant at Six Continents Hotels, Cost Accountant at Unilever HPC and Corporate Accountant/Supervisor at Medaphis Corporation.

She joined Johns Creek in December 2006.

John Henderson
Purchasing Manager

Since joining the City in December 2006, Henderson has utilized his 20+ years of experience in purchasing, technology, software training, customer service and project management.

Most recently, as Purchasing Manager for Sandy Springs, Georgia, he helped start that city when it incorporated in 2005. He previously served as: Purchasing Manager for Roswell, Georgia and Southern Polytechnic State University; Purchasing Operations Specialist at Georgia's Department of Administrative Services; and Senior Buyer at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Larry Hampton
Records Manager

Hampton began his career in the US Air Force in 1979, working at a number of high level security military facilities across the country, performing compliance audits, managing operating budgets for records management and developing implementation plans for military records management.

Prior to joining Johns Creek in November 2006, Hampton served as Records Supervisor for the Police Department of Coconut Creek, Florida, Project Manager and Senior Records Management Analyst for Access Sciences Corporation.
